Wade Kidwell's South African Collection

Our thanks go to Wade Kidwell of South Africa for sending in photos of some of his collection which show the various brands used throughout South Africa. Of particular note are the 2 Victory cans which are much sought after by collectors in the UK. When Wade made contact he kindly provided some helpful background information, he said - "I have some nice 2 gallon petrol cans in my collection which you may have seen some before. Plus two larger conicle shaped petrol cans. They both belong to the same company. Natalite was slightly older but was used for trucks and larger vehicles while Union was used mainly for smaller cars and motor bikes. Union & Natalite were high octane additives made from sugar cane as an additive to petrol. Petrol around these times was difficult to get so they would fill up with this additive of two parts petrol and one part Union."
